Lightenup@echoes.net
Lighten Up! is a variety band that finds its roots in the rhythm and blues. Lighten Up! has been in existence ever since Randy and Rose Light moved to Pennsylvania in 1995. They have been playing at weddings, anniversaries, private parties, festivals and nightclubs for many years. With an extensive repertoire, the band tailors its show to the musical needs of the audience.
In the recent past the band has played:
• The Endless Mountain “Women of the Blues Festival”
• The 4th of July Picnic for the Wallenpaupack Lake Estates Community six years
• New Years Eve for the Hideout Community for four years
• The Cardboard Boat Race on Lake Wallenpaupack
• The Knights of Columbus Lake Ariel St Paddys Day party
• The Scranton Wilkes-Barre Blues Association Rock N Blues Festival
• The Elmhurst Country Club New Years Eve and Fall Foliage Party
• The Race for The Cure at lake Wallenpaupack
• Valentines Dance at Woodloch Pines
• 1960’s Psychedelic Theme Dance at the The Hideout
• Keystone College Christmas Party (4 years) and Dean’s Dances
• Country Theme a the Hideout
• The Northeast Pennsylvania Blues Society Festival
• Numerous local nightclubs- Amore, That’s Amore, Inn Pecks Pond, the Water Wheel The Hotel New Foundland, Jasmines/Ramada, Gresham’s Chop House
Known for an excellent rapport with the audience, leader Randy Light has been playing professionally for nearly thirty years. Some highlights for Randy include warming up Mickey Gilley, Bobby Bare, and Leo Kotke. Randy has played many venues from coffee-houses, dance clubs, to concerts. He attributes his influences to the swing music of his mother’s Jazz and Dixieland band and to keeping up with the modern sounds of the college students with which he works regularly.
Rose Light is known for her powerful, yet silky-smooth vocals, with listeners comparing her from Janis Joplin to Patsy Cline. Her early musical experience includes playing as a street musician in Seattle and playing guitar and singing in an acoustic trio.
Randy and Rose work regularly with a number of talented regional musicians working usually as a five piece band; however they will adapt the performance to the needs of the venue.
